When you donate military memorabilia to charity, you are giving understanding to people about a war and a time period while also helping those less fortunate. Donating war collectibles is not difficult when you donate to the Giving Center.
The first step would be to organize your military memorabilia. Take a few pictures and write down helpful information for each item, including who used it. Doing a quick internet search or taking a picture of your item and putting it in an image search can help you with reference points. This can help when determining the fair market value of the item. Giving Center has an easy online donation form to start the process of your militaria donation.
You will have to enter your basic information along with a brief description of militaria and attach a good picture so it may be properly assessed by a representative. Once the form is submitted, a representative will contact you within 1–2 business days to go over any further questions they may have regarding your charitable donation. If your donation can be accepted, you and a representative will go over the best method in which to receive the donation.
Military memorabilia also referred to as militaria, can include any and all aspects of military life including: uniforms, weapons, letters that servicemen sent to their loved ones during wars, rare photos, original Vietnam or Indian Tomahawk, US officer or Medieval Knights Templar sword, medals and insignia, rare original documents, ephemera, and more.
Giving Center is an IRS approved 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. When you generously donate military memorabilia to Giving Center the donor you receive a fair market tax deduction that you can use at the end of the tax year. Check out the IRS publication Determining the Value of Donated Property for more details regarding the guidelines for itemizing donated goods.
